Borderlands, a game from 2k Games and Gearbox Software, is an addicting game i’d like to call a mixture between Fallout and Diablo.

“Wait, aren’t your judgement a little overreacting?”

Well it is if you see it on an angle i’m NOT seeing it from. Stick with the program here, kid. The game takes place in the fictional planet of Pandora (Yes, i’ve watched James Cameron’s Avatar and found the similarity.), which has become a lawless planet filled with unpaid-criminal-miner-has-beens, monsters and ancient aliens. Your mission is to find the Vault, which is said to hold powerful ancient alien technologies. Pretty simple? Well this isn’t really the game for all you storyline whores out there (including myself).

But hold up. What really kicks in this game is it’s varieties. Weapons with different brands and random perks from weapon boxes and enemy drops makes up for it’s inability to customize our characters (aside from its color), and it has its own skill point system, plus a unique skill for every character class and a weapon proficiency.

The multiplayer also made it exciting. especially because the “more players = more difficult = more loot” rule is implemented here. Heck, taking down massive Rakk Hives is always more exciting with buddies!

Sadly, i have to point out once more about the storyline. It’s short and predictable. I’m kinda glad they have side missions that are backed by a simple yet memorable background. The movement AI of the enemies are also “strange”, that they sometimes still run aimlessly to boxes, leaving them side-walking strangely.

So the point is, imagine if Fallout 3 has a somewhat crappier story, yet an ability to have random perked weapons and multiplayer. It’ll take your time before you realize it. Make sure you finish all your assignments beforehand.
