Note: Sorry for not posting much for the last few days. I will find material and post regularly as I get more and more familiar with WordPress.
Here is a clever video that shows off the role playing aspect of paintball.
So… why do people play paintball? There are many reasons to play paintball, and with it being one of the safest sports to play, there are few reasons why you shouldn’t play at least once.
Church youth groups go to paintball fields to have some fun with their friends. Businesses send their work staff to paintball fields to build camaraderie or to let off steam after a busy week. Grandparents bring their grandchildren to spend the afternoon doing something exciting and different.
Personally, I’ve played with a grandparent-grandson duo and they were pretty good players. You know that when two family members can dress up in camouflage and run around in the woods together they have a very close relationship.
A reason that I find to be most true of paintball players is the thrill of role playing their favorite character in a war movie. Imagine storming a beach like in Saving Private Ryan or defending a downed helicopter pilot like in Black Hawk Down. Players love the immersive aspect of fully surrounding themselves with a “battlefield” and learning how they would act in a similar situation. So in a way, paintball is better than any action movie because you are a part of it and the game is unscripted. How you go about eliminating the opposing team or reach the objective is all up to you and your team.
The best part? Nobody is seriously injured, aside from a few welts from being shot or bruises on legs from crawling and sliding to cover. At the end of each game, the players from each team share in a few laughs saying and congratulate each other on their playing skills. The victors relish in the glory of winning the game, while the losers vow to be on top next time.
Hopefully this post will give you something to think about if you weren’t sure about all the hype about paintball.
